History on the Creation of DocOA V2.0

DocOA V1.0 was a "must have" for Parents and their students. Parents want to know the origin of The Schwartz Method organizing literacy program. What was the original DocOA™  V1.0 organizer and was there research and testing done to prove the efficacy of this innovative tool building project. The efficacy was established as the result of the original testing and filing for a Federal Grant. The results were part of the original BookWindows website. The new results will be published here.  The creation of the original DocOA organizer tools came about as part of a student parent project in 1993 that David Schwartz started with his son Zachary, a 3rd grader at FAY School in Southborough MA. This project morphed into the legendary BookWindows organizing system, and then pivoted into the original patented DocOA™  version 1.0. Way back in 1993, David Schwartz, the father of organizing literacy, started a binder organizing project with his youngest son age 7 at the time. He was in 2nd grade and told his father he didn't want to buy school supplies, he wanted to make them. He knew we could, because his dad was leading the innovation in patenting a computer packaging concept for laptops called "the surface". They worked on Zak's binder system until it was "perfect". After two years and becoming number one student in his class, the Headmaster, Jim McDaniel asked if we could make them for all his classmates. In short order, his older brother adopted the system for his own use in high school and graduated sums cum lauds. Over a period of the next 7 years, David added a portfolio of patents under the BookWindows brand for document organizing. He had the products manufactured and installed them in schools through out Massachussetts as the DocOA V 1.0. The students fondly adopted the name Finder Binder because it was the answer to their illusive goal of getting and staying organized. It answered their perplexing question - "where are all my notes, tests, quizzes, homeworks, and projects that I need to study and share in class and at home with my friends and parents. Now available as DocOA V2.0...that's a picture of a student way back when, demanding their binder organizer tools. That's what you really want. The idea is to show them the pathway to organizing literacy...not to tell them what they have to do...so that they develop their own motivation to proceed and succeed by being better organized.
