 Why this is different...

Most systems organize the child. DocOA teaches the student to organize. A planner tells a child where to write something, rather than discovering and knowing why. A parent tells the student to remember something, but doesn't help them to know how. Often, the teacher tells the child "take this" or "bring that", but doesn't show them where to put it or how to find it.

With DocOA, the parent asks the student "First, will you try DocOA and see if it works for you?  They can see and ask, Is it working for you now? And if not, what can you do differently to make it better?".  This single, small shift, changes the role of the student from user to designer. Oppositional behavior and anxiety become a thing of the past.

So here's a little bit of history and the reason we know it works...

This idea didn't start with technology, and certainly not with AI,  but rather with a parent and a child. In 1993, David Schwartz began developing a simple organizing system with his 2nd grade son Zak. By 6th grade, Zak was the #1 student in his class, and the idea evolved into the "Finder-Binder". It was adopted by students at the FAY School (as written about in the Middlesex News in 1995). Subsequently, the system was implemented in both public and private schools throughout MA. Thirty years later, DocOA V2.0 has been redesigned and reintroduced. It shares the same DNA as the original system, i.e. the fundamental processes and insights.  Then what's actually different today?  Schwartz delivers the DocOA with off the shelf stationery products, making the product and the experience both economical and universally available.
